80´s cars, slow mopeds and rust
I have a softspot for cars from the 1980s - especially hot hatches and GTIs - but also more quirky stuff like 2CVs, Trabants and useless mopeds. I like to help my friends and family out when they have car issues - the rest of the time i spend searching for exciting projects.
I will be making small series about car projects but also smaller videos about fixing something specific on a car.
I am not a professional - my videos shouldn't be seen as guides, but as inspiration for fixing stuff yourself. For me, wrenching is where I relax and contemplate, and I think a lot feel the same way.
Thank you for watching! Please follow me if you like and I hope you will enjoy what is to come..

12:00 Do you have a 3d printer and print one?
0:05 Go see a doctor... 😂😂
The rear hub and bearing cover looks very like that of a Beetle. The car shows its roots... I wonder how easily those drain pipes get blocked up by dirt over time? Are boot leaks a big 924 issue?
Excellent work!
Blow those rear spoiler drains
I've got my 924 just after you did. I learn a lot watching these video's, thanks! Also in the process of fixing the unintended water ingest in the back. So far I've replaced the hatch seal, hatch lock seal and refitted the rear lights with RTV. The rear drains from the targa roof and the fuel filler drain also end up in the lower spaces left and right of the trunk. I suppose Porsche designed the 924 with some holes in the back.. There is no overpressure vent anywhere, and air which enters the cabin has to go somewhere, so they must have thought not to seal it up that much. The Internet also mentions exhaust fumes being sucked in when a window or the roof is opened up. Maybe that is why my new blower motor is running even when it's set to off, to always get some fresh air in?
Thanks
How easy it to replace rear wheel bearing on a Porche 924 l have seen in other cars were you need a press obviously when they designed the Porche 924 to make changing the rear wheel bearings
good work
You could have something 3d printed for that missing plastic part.
Excellent steady work!
Why would you care about fixing mechanical problems when you could easily get more views by polishing fadded yellow paint? Wash it with foam and manually like there were no Automatic Car Washing Tunnel machines and call it a day.
Each to their own…….polishing paint would be in my opinion boring
I wonder how many other people had to pause and visit the toilet during this video.......... :P
Curious.. why do cars in your country look ok from the outside but are completely rotten on the inside?
Morning! 👍
Mornings!

I was wondering where my coffee is! Would an old bike wheel work?
19:55 what a easter egg 😂
The best part of this Mercedes-Benz W123 is the engine abpnd there is another you tuber slowly restoring one of these and the rust he is replacing making repair panels he has the petrol one and been right hand drive and it has rusted in similar places yours has and the acceleratir pedal is not the best because of the rust he had all sorts of problems with the petrol system but it now starts and l also have an electric mower but it needs a long cord to run but l like it
You should try Evapo Rust: It is non toxic and sold in gallons. You just immerse metal parts in a drum or large container overnight and every nook and cranny is cleaned of rust. Just throw in rusted screws, bolts, parts and voila.
Its on my list of stuff to try for sure!
Thats a cool wheel balancer. Hilsen trabant-Bjørn😊
Try a motorbike wheel?
Cool antique contraption 😊 More 2cv please 😊
tak! :)
Very well done you got this old wheel balancing machine working and wheel balancing seems to be magic to me but can understand how tbis old wheel balancer works
I went to a guy who had a static type balancer but after he had balanced my wheel it still shook so they are not that accurate, nice find you've got there
When a bearing has been cleaned out of all its' grease (and of couse dirt & debris), it should make a nice hiss when it's spinning, with no notchy or bumpy sounds to it, if it has those it's a bad bearing, but either way, replacing that one would probably be more problematic than just leaving as-is given it's been bought for fun purposes... :)
Yea replacement is not really an option.. .;)
I love old stuff like your balancer. Just simplicity and uncomplicated.
That's a very cool machine!
Hi there, you are very humble. But violent. ;) Try copper hammers first, and then 30% vinegar to remove the rust.
Well.. I actually thought the brass hammer was the way to go, But I realize the copper one is softer! Thanks!
At 14 min. the vehicle makes me think about a Fred flintstone vehicle. Joyful to watch though. In Morocco they're dying for these cars. 😎
Takk for fin video. Du kan snart begynne som urmaker😊
Kun rustne ure! :P
At 0.10 min. I had my Joy moment. 😁
Good to see that put back into a working condition , just got to figure out how to use it now Seppo.
Yep!... :D Its pretty cool!
This sort of motoring memorabilia goes for a lot of money here in the UK.
Don't look now but a garden shed has fallen over behind you.
Great to see that you managed to free everything off and working again.
Hi Seppo, What type of camera are you using? it seems that the focus is start to cause problems on your latest videos
Sony zv e10... the lense is properly greasy... :P The cameras are living a hard life...
Nice
I burst out laughing at the hawk tuah reference! What a cool old machine. Great job getting it all freed up and moving. Hopefully you can figure out how to use it. Maybe you can try to balance a wheel from the Citroën van? Also nice to have a longer video to get into. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing with us.
The 2cv wheels does not have a hole in the middle.. so I dont think it will work for that :)
If it can do 3-stud bolt patern then that could be very useful. When i still had my Peugeot 404 i tried to have the wheels balanced and almost no tire centre could do it! In the end i had to travel quite a bit for a shop that could do it. The problem was that these Peugeot wheels have no centre hub hole. To mount it on a wheel balancing machine the need to use an adapter piece so they could mount the wheel using the bolt holes. Cars that have this issue: 2CV, diana, mehari, maybe R4, R5, R6, R8, Many old Peugeots.
Where I live we barely have any old Peugeot or Citroen left with 3 studs and a round wheel center, and yet, I have 3 tire shops near my house (10km radius) who have the adapter. one is just 500meter from my home, and 2 others a couple of kms away, one of which- belongs to my friend who is also a collector... :)
Hi Seppo, clock is known in UK as, 'Dial Test Indicator,' or D.T.I. for short. Used in many engineering applications where a magnified indication of alignment , movement, etcetera is needed. Many thanks for the entertainment and info you give us. From Nr Chester UK.
I use such an indicator every day at work, in the lathe.

That balancer is _extremely similar_ to the first balancer which I ever used as a young teenager in the early 1970's .... Perfection? No, but did a pretty decent job with some often extremely nasty remoulds that people insisted on buying ... I sometimes thought the amount of lead I'd put on the rim, out weighed (sic) the value of the remould tyre!! Indeed my father returned quite a few remould tyres each month to our suppliers, as they could not be balanced. Great work as ever Squire, keep it up 🙂
the wheel balance machine video was the one brought me to this channel in the first place, big respect to that one! was very interesting watching you bringing the 'new' one back to life.
the same here i think
The German one running on electricity was my gateway drug.
Same here.
Think I'd be assessing the structural areas up front first before going any further 😊
Seppo, you can easily build an interior as fine as the white one. One of the best purchase you can do is a 12v compressor fridge. They work very very well and use almost no electricity form your leisure battery. I have a "china" one on my t4 since 2021 and it's just amazing. The other thing is buying a solar panel...And than you can buy all the water pump for the sink and maybe a shower in the back. An other very useful thing is an awning (Fiamma made very good one). They transform your experience. So... it's very very fun building your own camper! You wont regret it!
I think your right... and I will enjoy it so much more if I made it myself! :D Im gonna look into a 12v compressore fridge!
I would love to see this rising from the graveyard...but I suspect it too far gone... But if there is one person in the world that can save this car...it's you :-)
I own three CXs with three more working through my father's estate. Plus SMs and an XM. I've owned a bunch of CXs over the years, and two DSs inculding a Chapron Cabriolet. I bought my last DS, a DS23 built for Bahrain, in 1980 and thought it would be the last car I bought. Months later I tested a CX 2000 with manual steering and bought it right away, selling the DS. Never looked back, will not have a DS again despite having a large collection of cars. The CX is likely one of the best cars ever designed, just don't abuse them. The SM is amazing, but not as refined as the CX. The CXs steering is tighter, more responsive to small movements off center, and the CX brakes are much quicker resonding (the rubber button the SM has takes away the instant response that the CX has). The CX seats are better than the SM seats. And the CX is far quieter than the SM. With all that said, the SM is such a cool car to drive around, it catches the eye of people who are not car people where the CX is less dramatic. Good to see you document the revival of this CX, you are providing some much needed video assistance to others. Good luck with it.
Would love to try an SM one day... I will never own one... prices are to high now... Got another XM coming soon also! :D
